New Online Interactive Community Assets Resource Map

A brand new collaborative effort between The Partnership for Prosperity, United Way of Forsyth County, Forsyth Regional Opioid & Substance Use Team (FROST), and MapForsyth was launched last week with a Community Assets Resource Map. The map puts resources from more than 1,000 agencies from Winston-Salem and Forsyth County in one place.

For over 15 years Northwest Area Health Education Center (Northwest AHEC) has been providing an online course called “Counseling for Change: An Online Tobacco Cessation Course”. This course is designed to provide tools to enhance the skills of healthcare providers when counseling for tobacco use including smoking cessation, exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS), the use of smokeless tobacco and electronic cigarettes.

For the first time in most of our lives, we shared a worldwide experience that profoundly challenged our everyday assumptions and disrupted our day-to-day reality. COVID-19 brought an unprecedented mix of new stressors, emotions, difficulties and possibilities, for the people in our programs, as well as for each one of us. We ALL had to figure out how to respond. For most of us at the conference our individual response included the decision to continue doing transformative work with other people--many of whom had challenges that become even more complex and exacerbated by the fear, disruption and extreme stress of the times. It’s was a lot.
