This continuing medical education activity is intended for pediatricians, as well as family medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses who provide care to infants, children and adolescents.

Dr. John Tinga practiced Obstetrics in eastern North Carolina for 40 years and delivered over 8,000 babies. We recently had him on our Healthcare Insights Podcast where he talks about his training, the challenges with rural medicine, his experience with AHEC, and shares his insights on the joys and challenges of medical practice.

The 2022 Update will provide up-to-date information on prevention, management and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This activity will address best practices related to prevention strategies for STIs including HIV, hepatitis and vaginitis. Approaches to addressing the syndemic of substance abuse and STIs will also be reviewed. The format will include case studies of common disease states that may complicate treatment, explore emerging infections and discuss the
future of testing technique implementation.

This activity is geared toward medical examiners, forensic practitioners, law enforcement, EMT, attorneys, as well as medical providers on all levels with the aim of improving knowledge around forensically relevant topics.

Clinical Corner is a series of 4 online microlearning activities focused on high priority health indicators in North Carolina, as outlined in Healthy North Carolina 2030. Achieving the goals of Healthy NC 2030 requires engaging partners across multiple sectors to improve population health and drive health equity over the next decade (Healthy NC 2030, p.17). Each module uses the Results-Based Accountability framework of ‘Turn the Curve’ thinking, and should take about 15 minutes to complete.

Having witnessed deeply compassionate care provided during his brother’s last days, Fred Trivette chose to help the medical providers who gave so much to their family.  He funded an annual CME activity focused on compassion fatigue.
