As we spring forward into a new season, Northwest Area Health Education Center of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine is excited to announce our upcoming programs designed to advance the skills of healthcare professionals in all disciplines.

Medical and hospital staff often encounter ethical tensions in practice arising from understandings of relevant law, as well as from a variety of other sources such as institutional policy, risk avoidance, financial concerns, professional guidelines, and political influences. This highly interactive conference will examine these constraints using case presentation, small group discussion, lecture, expert panel interaction, and networking. We will invite you to explore strategies for navigating situations in which your professional and personal integrity are challenged by examining common and pressing issues arising at the intersections of ethics and law. Join us!

Group counseling is a frequently used counseling format. Counselors need to be familiar with this format as well as the use of EBPs (e.g., motivational interviewing, MI) in a group setting in order to develop group community. This workshop will provide an opportunity for dialogue about the application of EBPs (e.g., MI) into practice.

This educational activity is designed for the ophthalmologist attendee to obtain more knowledge regarding the latest best-care diagnostic and treatment options for patients with retinopathy of prematurity, and surgical cataract. Nationally renowned experts in these areas will provide lectures and participate in question-and-answer sessions so that ophthalmologist physicians may improve their knowledge base and their competence in providing state-of-the-art care for patients with these diseases. Join us!
