Northwest AHEC Nurse Educators Alana Dodson, MBA, RN and  Stephanie Yoder, MSN attended the North Carolina Nurse’s Association (NCNA) Annual Convention on September 14-15 at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

NCNA 2023 conventionThey were able to participate in wonderful presentations on Innovation and Redesigning Healthcare, Defining Nursing Leadership, Responding to Workplace Violence, and Taking Action to Promote Health Equity and Nurse Well-being with around 500 other nurses from across the state. Community leaders held an engaging panel discussing the action that healthcare institutions and state legislators are taking to advocate for safety for healthcare workers in the workplace. Engaging breakout sessions were offered each day that proved very informative.

In addition to attending the convention, Alana and Stephanie represented the NC AHEC Nurse Council at an exhibitor table. The Nurse Council collaborates with a variety of nursing groups and serves as a forum to share information, ideas, and respond to statewide nursing and nursing education challenges. Alana and Stephanie were able to network and provide information about the Nurse Council and some of the regionally-focused offerings from the nine AHECs in the state of North Carolina.

This event allowed our Nurse Educators to feel inspired, motivated, and they enjoyed contributing their voices to the future of the profession of nursing.
