Pharmacy Week is celebrated from October 20-26. This week is dedicated to National Pharmacy Week, a time to honor and appreciate the crucial contributions pharmacists and pharmacy technicians make to patient care.
Back in 1924, Robert J. Ruth, a pharmacist from Asheville, NC, suggested to the American Pharmacist Association that one week each year should be set aside to remind pharmacists of their ethical obligation to safeguard public health and welfare. He also aimed to highlight the significant value pharmacists bring to the community.
Now, nearly a century later, this tradition in the third week of October continues to celebrate their numerous achievements.
Take a moment today to express gratitude to a pharmacist and pharmacy technician!
Northwest AHEC Pharmacy Continuing Education collaborates with various organizations to offer continuing education and certification programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in our 17-county region. These programs are also co-sponsored by the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The Northwest AHEC Pharmacy faculty are deeply involved in ambulatory clinical pharmacy practices, education for students and residents, and collaborative research.
