The 12th Annual Breastfeeding Forum took place on March 18, 2024, at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, North Carolina. Guests enjoyed the chance to expand their knowledge and connect with like-minded individuals at this convenient and centralized venue.
The forum boasted over 90 attendees, including providers, lactation consultants, peer counselors, nurses, WIC staff, health educators, and registered dieticians.
Engaging presenters discussed topics such as the impact of disordered eating on breastfeeding, post-partum hemorrhage effects on lactation, and strategies for nurturing breastfeeding success in babies with special needs. A presentation on self-care and wellness for healthcare professionals was also well-received. It was inspiring to witness passionate healthcare professionals coming together to expand their knowledge and skills.
Presented in partnership by Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a program of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and part of the NC AHEC System and Mountain Area Health Education Center and Region 1 WIC LATCH (Lactation Area Training Center for Health).
