On March 1, 2022, The Food and Drug Administration alerted health care providers and the public to three COVID-19 antigen tests that are not authorized or approved for distribution or use in the United States. Due to the potential for false results, FDA said providers should consider retesting patients with an authorized test if these tests were performed less than two weeks ago and they suspect an inaccurate result. Getting tested for COVID-19 is about protecting yourself and your loved ones. To help ensure everyone has access to COVID-19 testing, the NC Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with NC-based Labcorp, has launched a pilot program to provide 35,000 no-cost, at-home COVID-19 collection kits for North Carolinians who may face difficulties traveling to testing sites. On Tuesday, January 25, HHS announced that it is disbursing an additional $2 billion in Provider Relief Fund Phase 4 payments. Like the payments allocated in December, these will be based on lost revenues and increased expenses due to COVID-19 and will be made to health care providers who previously applied for relief funds.
