We honor you today for the work you do for your patients, your communities and our society as a whole. We remember those who have gone.

Doctors' Day was first observed in Winder, Georgia in 1933, making this year the 90th anniversary of this occasion.  March 30 was chosen because on that date in 1842, Dr. Crawford W. Long used ether anesthetic for the first time. In 1990, George Bush proclaimed March 30 as National Doctors' Day.
