The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has made some changes to the process for reporting a change to a provider's Medicare enrollment information, particularly establishing or terminating a reassignment.
The process can be confusing.
One important take-away is that the form previously used to report such a change has been discontinued by CMS. Instead, this type of change must be reported on the most current version of form CMS-8551.
Other changes relevant to Medicare Provider Enrollment include:
- The 2024 enrollment application fee is $709.00
- New provider specialty codes have been established for dentists
