CMS Accepting MIPS Exception and Hardship Applications Through January 2, 2024

If you have been affected by extreme and uncontrollable circumstances (rare events entirely outside of your control) you may apply to reweight any or all MIPS performance categories.

Keep in mind, Alternative Payment Model (APM) Entities can also submit one of these applications, but the policy for those entities differs from MIPS eligible clinicians, groups and virtual groups.

MIPS eligible clinicians, groups, and virtual groups may apply to reweight the Promoting Interoperability performance category to 0% if they meet certain criteria.
