CDC Issues 'Dear Colleague' Message About Monkeypox

On July 27, Dr. Rochelle Walensky issued a Dear Colleague letter for health care providers.

This letter includes:

  • Urgent information about diagnosis of monkeypox virus infection
  • Recommendations for treatment
If you have not yet reviewed this letter, you are urged to do so. As more is learned about clinical manifestations of this infection, treatment control and treatment improves.

  • Monkeypox website - Includes prevention, signs and symptoms and treatment.

    As of July 29, there were 53 cases in North Carolina
