Team Meetings Strengthen Relationships and Increase Productivity!

Written by Practice Support Team | May 1, 2024 7:00:00 PM

  • We don't have time to have team meetings!
  • How can we meet when the phone won't stop ringing?
  • Why should we meet as a team when we work together all day long?
  • It is so hard to recruit and retain staff!

While time and workload are potential barriers to establishing regular practice team meetings, the outcomes and improvements in workflow efficiencies, patient care, and team member satisfaction are well worth the initial effort!

Team meetings bring all members of the practice, such as the physician, nurse, medical assistant and office team members together to analyze the way work is currently being done and take steps to improve efficiency. All team members should be involved. In effective team meetings, each team member is encouraged to share ideas to improve the practice's workflow. Without ground rules, positive habits, and good meeting skills, efforts to implement team meetings will not be successful.

How do you start?

We are excited to share this resource with you: American Medical Association Steps Forward  provides you with PRACTICAL resources and guidelines (ground rules, sample agenda and minutes templates and other examples)  to begin having, or improve current practices in team meetings.

Team meetings can help your practice efficiently and effectively solve problems, develop stronger bonds between team members, and provide better patient care.  The strategies and tactics included in the AMA Steps Forward module will support your efforts to implement and conduct successful team meetings.
