Rural Nursing: A Unique Specialty!

Written by Leslie D McDowell, DNP, ANP-BC, RN | Dec 4, 2024 5:30:00 PM

Just as orthopedic nurses are skilled at caring for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, and cardiac nurses specialize in patient care of cardiovascular disease, rural nurses are skilled at knowing a little bit about everything! They balance the needs of their patients with the often-limited resources and other challenges in small and sometimes isolated areas.

The National Rural Health Association has created a Certification Program specifically for nurses who provide care in rural settings.  If you are a nurse (RN or LPN) who is currently employed in rural healthcare, this certification is for you! Grow confidence in your knowledge, skills and in YOURSELF!

The 4 month program is a mixture of online, self-guided learning with scheduled Zoom networking opportunities, with a time commitment of 1 to 1 1/2 hours per week.

Topics Include:

  • Health Trends in Rural America
  • Intra-personal and Inter-personal leadership
  • Communication & Engagement
  • Quality, Innovation, and Population Health
  • Clinical Inquiry
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Financial Overview

The next cohort begins February 26, 2025. Select the button below to learn more and enroll:
