S.T.A.B.L.E.: What to Do After Neonatal Resuscitation Is Next Week!

S.T.A.B.L.E. is a nationally recognized program involving care of the neonate beyond resuscitation. This webinar is taking place next Wednesday, June 30 8:30am - 4:00pm. Limited to 12 participants so be sure to register ASAP.

S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for the six assessment and care modules in the program: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work and Emotional.

Objectives for this activity:

Upon completion of this knowledge-based program, participants should be able to:
  • Describe appropriate interventions for neonatal emergencies.
  • Discuss the initiation of IV fluid therapy in sick newborns.
  • Identify infants at risk for hypothermia, the detrimental effects of cold stress and methods of rewarming.
  • List the signs of respiratory distress and the indications for positive pressure ventilation with bag/mask or ETT.
  • Recognize causes, presentation and initial treatment of hypovolemic, cardiogenic and septic shock in newborns.
  • Identify clinical signs of infection and the recommended lab work needed prior to transport.
  • Describe ways community hospital caregivers can support parents of sick newborns.
  • Demonstrate proper care of the compromised newborn during skill lab session.
