Addressing the Healthcare Workforce Shortage, We Need Your Help

Written by Megan Mills Anderson | Jan 22, 2024 9:30:38 PM

Dear Healthcare Partners,

In an effort to better address the significant shortage of health care workers, Northwest AHEC is partnering with the NC Center on the Workforce for Health (NC AHEC, Sheps Center, NC IOM), the NC Chamber Foundation to develop and implement a plan to create the next generation of healthcare clinicians and staff.

To align supply of talent through workforce programming with the job demand needs of the region, we need to solicit information from your organization and other employers across our region. Using a proven approach called Talent Pipeline Management (TPM), Northwest AHEC and dedicated partners are presently recruiting healthcare employers across the region to identify and quantify critical workforce needs for the future. This will help guide our work with local educators to ensure workforce development is meeting your demands. The Northwest AHEC is one of five pilot sites in the state implementing TPM. The goal is to deploy this initiative throughout North Carolina in the future. This announcement reflects just the start of a large-scale, long-term initiative in our region, and we need your support and participation.

To begin the process, Northwest AHEC requests that you and/or appropriate team members:

We will present the results of the questionnaire and talk in more detail about our employer-led effort at the Employer Leadership information session. We have crafted this process to make most efficient use of your time.

Thank you in advance for your leadership and participation. This important work will help us bridge the gaps that contribute to workforce shortages and enable your organization to continue to deliver high quality care. If you have any questions, please reach out to Megan Mills Anderson at mwmills@wakehealth.edu or 336-713-8527.
