This knowledge-based activity will include innovative strategies for providing efficient, quality care to the growing number of people living with cardiovascular disease. Participants will receive information on future treatment strategies and their impact on the care of the cardiac patient.

Objectives:
  • Describe the different mechanisms designed to help and identify the unique needs of the cardiovascular patient
  • Describe the advances in care for the cardiovascular patient
  • Recognize treatment options available and the care continuum for adult and pediatric patients
  • Describe ways to use evidence-based care and research to provide best patient care
  • Demonstrate how to detect early signs of cardiovascular disease
  • Identify signs of cardiovascular disease and acute vs chronic conditions
  • Identify preventive measures for the cardiovascular patient
  • Identify ways research and technology impact best patient care

Credit

  • The Wake Forest School of Medicine designates this activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • This also provides 6 Nursing Contact Hours. Participants must attend 90% of the activity and complete the online evaluation to receive credit. NO partial credit will be awarded. Northwest Area Health Education Center (NWAHEC) is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
