This educational activity aims to inform the learner about the status of diabetes and chronic kidney disease in primary care. This activity will explore barriers and facilitators to promote patient engagement in treatment. This activity will focus on performance improvement methods and activities which promote health among patients with diabetes.

 

Objectives
  • Describe barriers and strategies for clinical care teams in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • Utilize new methods to identify how diabetes and CKD disproportionately affect racial and ethnic minorities in clinical workflows.
  • Explain processes for screening, diagnosis, and raising awareness about diabetes and its connection to chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Cost

The first 100 registrations will be at no charge, supported by Division of Health Benefits grant funding. 
After that, registrations will be $10 each.

 

Presenter
Eugene E. Wright, Jr. MD 
Medical Director, Performance Improvement, South Piedmont AHEC

Dr. Eugene Wright serves and has served on several advisory and editorial boards to include Clinical 
Diabetes, Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics and as a content reviewer for UpToDate. Dr. Wright 
has served on the planning committee of the Clinical Conference of the ADA since 2009. He served as 
the inaugural chair of the ADA Primary Care Interest Group and as a member of the ADA/AHA Know 
Diabetes by Heart Science Advisory Group. Dr. Wright has published several articles on diabetes diagnosis, treatment and management and has given presentations at national and international meetings on new treatments and technology for diabetes.
