Camp Med Reaches High School Students In Person and Online This Year

Jul 1, 2021 1:18:00 PM / by Brooke Kochanski

Our typical Camp Med Program has traditionally been held in person throughout the Northwest AHEC 17-county region for students in grades 9-12. The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 created an opportunity to transition this program to a virtual platform where we reached 900+ students last year!

In 2021 we've been able to re-open the in person Camp Med within 9 counties in our region. One program in particular is located within Catawba County Schools, who's program is in full swing and even getting some attention in local news papers - Hickory Daily Record News Story.

Pictured below are students who participated in Catawba County Schools' Camp Med 2021 Summer Program, and a video submitted by their camp coordinator to show all the fun the students had this year. The four-day summer program is designed to identify, recruit, educate and prepare diverse high school students for careers in the health profession. Camp Med activities include presentations from local experts, tours, observations and hands-on activities.
