Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: Honoring Strength and Building Support

Written by Alana Dodson, MBA, BSN, RN | Nov 24, 2025 2:30:01 PM

Each November, North Carolina joins the nation in recognizing Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. A time to honor families walking through memory loss, uplift caregivers, and renew our commitment to building communities where older adults can thrive with dignity and support.

More than 180,000 North Carolinians are living with Alzheimer’s, and countless families feel the impact every single day. Whether you’re a caregiver, a healthcare professional, or someone who simply wants to learn more, this month reminds us that awareness is the first step toward better understanding, earlier diagnosis, and stronger resources for those affected.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month is a reminder that while the road may be challenging, no one has to walk it alone. North Carolina continues to build stronger systems of care, better resources, and a more compassionate  understanding of memory loss. Let’s honor the individuals, families, and caregivers who show strength every day.
